WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State University baseball team fell to the Oklahoma Sooners, 9-4, in the final game of an eight-game homestand Tuesday, April 23, at Eck Stadium, Home of Tyler Field.
The Shockers (20-20) hit the road this weekend to take on the University of Cincinnati Bearcats in a three-game American Athletic Conference series that will start on Friday April 26, at 5 p.m. CT.
Wichita State was led at the plate by junior
Jacob Katzfey, who went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, while
Hunter Gibson also registered a solo homer – his fourth round-tripper of 2019.
Jordan Boyer tallied a double in the contest, respectively.
Reliever
Calvin Marley (0-1) suffered his first loss of the 2019 campaign on the mound after giving up two earned runs on a pair of hits and a walk in 1 1/3 innings of work.
The Sooner (28-14) offense was paced by right-fielder Brady Harlan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, and centerfielder Tanner Tredaway, who had two doubles and batted in a pair of runs in the winning effort.
Right-hander Jaret Godman (3-0) got the win out of the bullpen for Oklahoma after surrendering one earned run on three hits with five strikeouts and a walk in five innings on the mound.
