STILLWATER, Okla. – The Oklahoma State Cowboys outlasted the Wichita State University baseball team, downing the Shockers, 10-7, Wednesday, March 6, at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.

Wichita State (5-6) is scheduled to open a three-game series at No. 10 Texas Tech Friday, March 8, at 6:30 p.m. at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park in Lubbock, Texas.

Jordan Boyer led WSU at the plate, going 3-for-4 with his first homer of the season, three RBI and a run, while freshman
Brady Slavens posted a 2-for-4 showing with a double and two RBI, and sophomore
Paxton Wallace had a pair of hits and two runs.

Clayton McGinness (0-2) suffered the loss on the mound after allowing two earned runs on a pair of hits with two strikeouts and a walk in two innings of work.

The Shockers took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first after Boyer sent a 2-2 pitch over the left field wall for his inaugural round-tripper of 2019.

The lead was short-lived, however, after OSU's Colin Simpson hit a three-run homer in the bottom-half of the first to put the Cowboys (7-4) in front, 3-1.Â

Oklahoma State built its advantage to 5-1 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third, before Wichita State answered with four in the top of the fourth to tie the game, 5-5.

Ross Cadena started the four-run rally after working a bases loaded walk, before Slavens tallied his first collegiate RBI, scoring
Hunter Gibson and
Mason O'Brien on a single to centerfield for the second and third runs of the inning. Boyer provided the tying run, scoring Cadena on a single up the middle.

OSU responded, however, and scored two runs in the fourth and fifth to jump out to a 9-5 lead.

The Shockers cut the Oklahoma State lead to 9-7 after tallying a run each in the sixth and seventh, but couldn't get any closer the remainder of the game.

Andrew Navigato had three hits, including a homer and double, three runs scored and two RBI, leading the Cowboys.

Brett Standlee (1-0) earned the victory for OSU after allowing no earned runs on three hits with four strikeouts and zero walks in two innings of relief.
