WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State men's tennis team concluded its home slate with a 7-0 senior day sweep over UTSA Saturday inside Genesis Health Club.
 
The Shockers (13-9) recorded a perfect 7-0 record at home on the season with the sweep over the Roadrunners.
 
DOUBLES
The Shockers clinched the doubles point for the third time in a row with wins on courts one and three. In the top slot, Murkel Dellien and Marius Frosa reeled off their seventh win in a row, knocking off Juri Reckow and Joao Ceolin, 6-2. Andrea Caligiana and Eddie Stoica teamed up for Senior Day, knocking off Patrick Poestinger and Javier Rodriguez in the third flight, 6-3. Haru Inoue and Stefan Latinovic led Alan Sanson and Kai Breitbach in flight two, 4-3, before going unfinished.
 
SINGLES
The Shockers collected wins on all six singles courts for the 7-0 sweep over the Roadrunners. Stoica, one of four seniors on the team, started singles action with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Reckow in the fourth slot. Frosa took on Rodriguez in the third slot, rolling to a 6-1, 6-4 win to give WSU the early 3-0 advantage over UTSA. Orel Ovil got back in the win column, this time in the sixth slot over Javier Gonzalez in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5 to clinch the match for the Shockers. Stefan Latinovic was pushed by Sanson in the fifth slot, going to the only three-set match of the day. After splitting the first two sets, the 6-foot-6 freshman rolled in the third (6-0).
 
Dellien and Inoue completed the sweep, with wins in slots one and two, respectively. Inoue won 6-3, 6-3 over Ceolin and Dellien notched a 6-3, 6-4 win over Breitbach to give the Shockers the 7-0 win on Senior Day.
 
The Shockers will head to Texas to take on SMU and UT-Arlington next Sunday and Monday.
