WICHITA, Kan. – The Memphis Tigers scored three runs in the top of the ninth-inning to break a 3-3 tie and defeat the Wichita State University baseball team, 6-3, in the series finale of a three-game American Athletic Conference series Sunday, March 24, at Eck Stadium, Home of Tyler Field.

Wichita State (11-12, 2-1 American) is scheduled to host Omaha in a midweek contest Tuesday, March 26, at 6 p.m.

Sophomore
Ross Cadena posted two hits, and senior
Luke Ritter hit a two-run home run – his team-high fifth homer of 2019, leading the Shockers at the plate. Ritter has now reached base successfully in his last 35 games going back to last season, and is on a team-best 13-game hitting streak.

WSU reliever
Aaron Haase (1-1) suffered the loss on the mound after giving up the go-ahead run in the ninth. Haase allowed two hits and tallied a strikeout with no walks in 1 2/3 innings.

Colton Neel led the Tigers (11-11, 1-2 American), posting three hits, including a double, and also earned his fourth save of the season after tossing a scoreless bottom of the ninth-inning. Keith Stepter added three RBI and a homer.

Memphis reliever Alex Smith (3-1) picked up the win after allowing no earned runs on no hits with two strikeouts in an inning of work.

For the game, the Tigers outhit the Shockers, 13-5.
