WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State baseball team dropped a doubleheader to the Rhode Island Rams at Eck Stadium, Home of Tyler Field, Saturday, March 16, falling in game one, 13-8, before losing the nightcap, 6-1.

The Shockers (7-11) and Rams (4-9) are scheduled to conclude the four-game series with a contest at noon Sunday, March 17.

In game one, sophomore
Paxton Wallace led Wichita State at the plate, going 2-for-5 with a double and solo homer – his team-high fourth of the season, while
Jordan Boyer added three hits in five at bats, and
Noah Croft went 2-of-4 with a triple, respectively.

Right-hander
Tommy Barnhouse (0-2) took the loss on the mound for WSU in the opener after giving up one earned run and four unearned runs on three hits with six walks and two strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.

Jackson Coutts posted three hits, including a double, to go along with two RBI, pacing the Rams offensively.
Â
Dom Grillo (1-0) earned the game one victory after giving up four earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and one walk in five innings of work.

In game two,
Hunter Gibson went 2-for-4 with a double, and
Luke Ritter hit his third homer of the season, leading Wichita State in the batter's box.

Right-handed starter
Liam Eddy (2-3) suffered the loss after surrendering five earned runs on five hits with three walks and three strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings.

Sonny Ulliana and Josh Brodeur each batted in two runs, with Ulliana also belting his first home run of the season, leading Rhody in the nightcap.

Nick Robinson (1-3) was the winning pitcher after going seven innings and giving up one earned run on three hits with five strikeouts and three walks.
