Shockers Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State cross country program has earned All-Academic distinction from the USTFCCCA.
 
Accomplished on the course and in the classroom, head coach Kirk Hunter's squad boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.44 on the women's side, while the men's team recorded a 3.28 GPA. Individually, Winny Koskei and Rebekah Topham collected All-Academic honors for their efforts in finishing among the top-25 at the NCAA Midwest Region Championships as well as holding a GPA of 3.25 or greater.
 
In total 267 student-athletes received USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, including 156 women and 111 men.  Overall, there were 427 teams that received All-Academic distinction.
 
In order to qualify for All-Academic honors, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships. Teams are required to have a GPA of 3.0 or higher to qualify.
 
ON THE COURSE
Kirk Hunter led the women's team to the 2018 American Athletic Conference team title, while Winny Koskei won the conference individual title. The Shockers continued to find success at the NCAA Midwest Regional where Koskei placed third overall punching her ticket to the NCAA Championships. Rebekah Topham finished in 17th earning All-Region honors.
 
Koskei capped her 2018 cross country season with All-American honors finishing 35th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Madison, Wis.
