WICHITA, Kan. -Â First time foes Wichita State and Eastern Michigan bring in the first weekend of December with a Saturday matchup in Charles Koch Arena on Dec. 7.

Wichita State won its 600th game all time with its 88- 83 win over Oklahoma on Nov. 30, 2019. They became the 10th program in the American Athletic Conference with 600 or more victories. UCF (597) is right on the doorstep to 600 as well - needing only five wins to reach the milestone. Tulsa (351) is the only other active member shy of that mark.
LAST TIME OUT
Wichita State saw its four-game winning streak come to an end following a 68-55 loss to No. 22/18 Missouri State. Wichita State finished the game 0-of-10 from beyond the arc, marking the first time since Jan. 10, 2018 vs. Memphis (0-for-11) the Shockers failed to hit a three-pointer. Maya Brewer scored a career-high 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting to go with a career-high tying three steals. Junior

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Eastern Michigan is 2-5 to start the 2019-20 campaign. The Eagles own wins over Olivet (95-38) and Southeast Missouri State (69-64). Their five losses are to No. 17/21 Michigan State, Youngstown State, Southern Illinois, Michigan and Binghamton. Areanna Combs made her season debut against Binghamton and scored 29 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Aaliyah Stanley averages 12.1 points and leads the Eagles with 11 steals. Jenna Annecchiarico has handed out a team-high 23 assists. Autumn Hudson averages 6.6 rebounds in only 16.0 minutes a game.

A season ago,
Carla Bremaud led the Shockers in scoring and was selected for the American Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team, becoming the first freshman to lead Wichita State in scoring for a season since Kiki Stephens in 2004-05. Now a sophomore,
Bremaud will look to carry that momentum into 2019-20, while also coming off a summer with the French U20 National Team.

MCCARTY, SMITH SNAG WEEKLY HONORS

DJ McCarty was named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week and sophomore forward
Shyia Smith picked up her first honor roll selection on Dec. 2. McCarty, a DeSoto, Texas native, averaged 12.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists on 47.4 percent shooting in Wichita State's two wins last week that included a home win over Oklahoma on Saturday. She opened the week with a team-high 12 points, while adding three rebounds, three assists and two steals against Houston Baptist and finished with a 13-point, 3-assists outing against the Sooners. McCarty leads the team in scoring at 11.3 points per game and has scored 10 or more points in three straight games and four this season (leads team). She is the first Shocker to collect Freshman of the Week honors since
Shyia Smith last season. Smith is coming off her first career double-double when she tallied 10 points and a career-high 17 rebounds against Houston Baptist. Her 17 rebounds were a career high and the most by a Shocker since
Sabrina Lozada-Cabbage had 17 on Feb. 19, 2017. In Wichita State's two wins, Smith averaged 6.0 points and 11.5 rebounds on 50 percent shooting. She has grabbed six or more rebounds in four straight games.
MAKE IT RAIN
Wichita State poured in 12 three-pointers in only 22 attempts in its victory over Oklahoma on Saturday, Nov. 30. The 12 made three-pointers are the most in a single game since Dec. 30, 2006, when the Shockers made 12-of-24 against Evansville. The school record for made triples in a single game is 14, which was set in 1999. Wichita State has made 10 or more three-pointers only four times between 2006 and Nov. 30, 2019.

Wichita State's win over Oklahoma on Nov. 30 was the program's first win against a Big 12 opponent and Power 5 member since Dec. 12, 2014, when the Shockers defeated in-state rival, Kansas State, 51-48 in Charles Koch Arena. That same season Wichita State also recorded wins against Clemson (ACC) and Ohio State (Big Ten).

Playing in her first collegiate road contest on Monday, Nov. 11 at Oral Roberts, freshman guard
DJ McCarty set a number of season highs. McCarty came in off the bench and lit up the Golden Eagles to the tune of 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc in 33 minutes of action. The Texas native also pulled down four rebounds. McCarty and
Carla Bremaud single-handedly kep the Shockers in it the first half, combining for 17 of the team's 25 points.

Ashley Reid and sophomores
Seraphine Bastin and
Trajata Colbert. Selected by their teammates, the trio will be looked upon to lead the Shocker basketball program for the remainder of the campaign.

ABOUT THE EAGLES
Located in Ypsilanti, Mich., Eastern Michigan University has an enrollment of 21,105 as a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). Eastern Michigan returns 11 letterwinners and three starters off last year's squad that finished 14-17 and 6-12 in the MAC. Eastern Michigan was picked to finish fourth in the West Division of the Preseason MAC Coaches Poll. Corrione Cardwell, a redshirt junior, was selected to the Preseason All-MAC West Division Team after averaging 13.0 points and 4.2 rebounds a season ago. Head Coach Fred Castro is in his fourth season leading the Eagles and has a career record of 33-67 through his first three-plus seasons. Castro has spent the past 17 years climbing the ranks from student manager to now the eighth head coach in EMU program history. Castro has been a part of 10 squads that have participated in the postseason since the 2001-02 campaign, including a pair of trips to the NCAA Tournament Final Four. In 17 years of coaching, his teams have combined to post a 348-233 record (.599 winning percentage) and eight seasons of 20-or-more victories.
