Shockers Take Down Tulsa in Home Finale, 3-1

WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State University volleyball team posted 11 blocks and limited Tulsa to a .089 attack percentage on its way to a 3-1 victory over the Golden Hurricane Friday night, Nov. 15, at Charles Koch Arena in the final home match of the season. The set scores were 25-23, 25-14, 24-26 and 25-19. This marked the first time in three matches WSU and Tulsa did not play a five-set contest.
 
Wichita State (8-19, 5-10 American) is scheduled to wrap up its 2019 campaign with a road match at ECU Sunday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. CT (noon ET) in Greenville, N.C.
 
Freshman Sophia Rohling tallied 11 kills and hit .310, while fellow freshman Sinalauli'i Uluave posted her fourth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 12 digs, and junior Emma Wright compiled nine kills on 13 attempts with just one error for a match-high .615 hitting percentage, leading the Shockers.
 
Wright also had a game-high eight blocks with one block solo and seven block assists.
 
In her final match in the Roundhouse, senior Kara Bown tallied a team-high 20 digs, while freshman Kayce Litzau added a game-best 25 assists, going along with 11 digs, for her first-career double-double.
 
The Shockers had 52 kills on 141 attempts with 21 errors for a .220 attack percentage, while holding the Golden Hurricane (15-13, 8-7 American) to 48 kills on 157 swings with 34 miscues.
 
Dilara Gedikoglu led Tulsa with 15 kills on 47 attempts but had 16 errors for a -.021 attack percentage.
 
Bown and fellow Wichita State senior Damadj Johnson were honored in a ceremony prior to the match.
