Â
Charles Koch Arena full of basketball fans is one of the defining images of Wichita State athletics.
Â
It can be an intimidating place to play, thanks to the noise generated by the fans. Before the season, associate athletic director
Russell Wilkins wants to make sure Koch Arena's reputation doesn't intimidate its own fans. Wilkins' job is to sell tickets and Wichita State sells a bunch for men's basketball.
Â
It is, however, possible to buy a ticket to a Shocker men's basketball game. Wilkins, every October, wants to remind fans.
Â
"I still hear that a lot – 'You guys have been sold out for the last 10 years,'" Wilkins said.Â
Â
Games will again sell out this season. That doesn't mean fans should give up.
Wichita State is selling season tickets, a 10-game non-conference package and a three-game package which allows fans to pick games.Â
Â
For single games, unclaimed student tickets go on sale 48 hours before home games.
Â
"I think that's a big one for our fans who wouldn't normally feel like they can afford to come to a game," said Reggie McIntyre, director of marketing and fan engagement. "I want people to be aware tickets are still available here in Charles Koch Arena."
Â
Season tickets are on sale.
So are the Pick-3 package and the non-conference package.
Non-conference single-game tickets go on sale on Oct. 14.
Â
The Shockers play 19 home games, starting with an exhibition vs. Northeastern (Okla.) State on Oct. 29. The schedule includes VCU and Mississippi and American Athletic Conference opponents such as Memphis, Cincinnati, Houston and Tulsa.
Â
"There are still season tickets available," Wilkins said. "A 19-game home schedule is unheard of in college sports. That's a huge number."
