MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Wichita State University volleyball team defeated the Memphis Tigers, 3-2, in an American Athletic Conference match on Friday, Oct. 4, inside Elma Roane Fieldhouse. The set scores were 26-28, 25-18, 27-29, 25-19 and 15-12.

Wichita State (4-11, 1-2 American) is scheduled to travel to Dallas, Texas, to face the SMU Mustangs (8-5, 1-2 American) Sunday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. at Moody Coliseum.

Emma Wright tallied a match-best 16 kills on 26 attempts with two errors for a career-best .538 attack percentage, and posted six block assists, leading the Shockers.

Brylee Kelly added a career-high 14 kills, while junior
McKayla Wuensch compiled a career-best 49 assists, and redshirt freshman
Chinelo Ogogor and junior
Brooke Smith each compiled a career-best seven block assists.

Kara Bown had a match-high 23 digs, and sophomore
Megan Taflinger tallied 15 kills, respectively.

The Shockers outhit the Tigers (11-4, 0-3 American), .223 to .165, and compiled a season-best 16 blocks. WSU also tallied an 8-6 edge in service aces for the match.

Hannah Flowers hit .324 with 16 kills, while Meredith Wallace had a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs, leading Memphis.
