The 2018-19 Wichita State Shocker Cheer team finished up their work week last Friday and are ready for the upcoming season.
 
To start the week, the team took on orientation to get everyone on the same page for the upcoming year and learned the expectations of a Spirit Squad member. The coaching staff worked out the team, learning new stunts and putting the newcomers to the test.
 
The squad practiced different game day skills and competition-level basket tosses, pyramids and stunts. The team also used themed practices, such as 'Twin Tuesday, 'USA Wednesday' and 'Throwback Thursday' to help with team bonding.  
 
"Walking away from work week I'm so excited to be a part of a team that is as passionate about cheering for the Shockers as I am, "said Kayla – a junior majoring in elementary education.
 
You can catch the team performing at every home volleyball, men's and women's basketball home game this season. They are also heavily involved in several events throughout the community. They also work towards the goal of competing yearly at UCA Nationals in January.
