Three More Shockers Sign with Pro Teams

7/30/2018 12:06:00 PM

Wichita State products Zach Brown, Shaquille Morris and Darral Willis Jr. have all reached agreements to play overseas in 2018-19.

Morris signed with Bnei Hertzeliya in Israel, Brown will play for CEP Lorient in France and Willis is headed to Cyprus to play for Keravnos Strovolou.

A first team all-conference selection in 2018, Morris finished his career ranked second on WSU's career blocks chart (147) and fourth in field goal percentage (.546), while totaling 1,172 points.

Morris' new team, Bnei Hertzeliya, is based in the town of Hertzeliya, located on the central Israeli coast. The club is one of 12 competing in the Israeli Premier League.

The 6-foot-9 Willis was an effective bench scorer in his two seasons with the Shockers (2016-18) after transferring from Pearl River Community College. He tallied 698 points and 383 rebounds over 69 games, with a per-40-minute scoring average (23.4) that ranks among the highest in program history.

Willis will suit up for a Keravnos Strovolou team that has played for the Cypriot Division A title in each of the last two seasons, finishing runner-up in 2018 after winning the 2017 national championship.

A three-year starter who made the 2017 MVC All-Defensive team, Brown closed his four-year career as one of just nine Shockers to participate in more than 100 victories (joined by Morris and two others from the Class of 2018). He finished with 739 points, 351 rebounds, 152 assists and 80 steals and became the 25th Shocker to hit 100 career threes.

Brown's new club, CEP Lorient, plays in France's third-tier league, NM1. In 2018, Lorient finished just shy of a promotion to the second tier (ProB) after falling in the final round of the NM1 playoffs.

Five members of Wichita State's 2017-18 team have now signed professional contracts. In June, Landry Shamet was drafted 26th overall by the NBA's Philadelphia 76'ers. Last week, Rashard Kelly signed with Russian club Parma Basket of the VTB United League.
