CLEARWATER, Fla. – No. 23 USF eliminated Wichita State from the American Athletic Conference Championship with a 7-2 win.
Trey Vickers went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI, while
Dayton Dugas went 2-for-4 with a double.
Starter
Liam Eddy went two innings and gave up four runs on five hits with three walks and one strikeout.
Coco Montes doubled down the third base line on the first pitch of the game for the Bulls. He came around to score on a single by David Villar to give USF an early 1-0 lead.
With one out in the second, Garrett Zech walked and stole second. He scored on a two-out single by Montes to push the Bulls lead to 2-0.
The Shockers got on the board in the bottom of the second.
Dayton Dugas led off with a single and went to third on a Bulls error. He scored on a two-out double by
Trey Vickers to cut the lead to 2-1.
USF used two hits and a walk to add two more in the third and scored three in the seventh for a 7-1 lead.
The Shockers used a sacrifice fly from Vickers to make the score 7-2 in the seventh.
