WICHITA, Kan. - No. 20 Wichita State rides a three-game winning streak into this weekend's series with UConn. The Shockers and Huskies open with a doubleheader Friday at 3 p.m. and conclude the series Sunday at 1 p.m.

• Freshman Hunter Gibson homered in his first collegiate plate appearance on Feb. 25 against Omaha. He is just the second Shocker to do that joining teammate Alec Bohm who did it in 2016.
• Greyson Jenista and Alec Bohm have both been named preseason All-Americans and to the watch list for the Golden Spikes Award.
• The Shockers are 20-9 on April 13, 19-11 on April 14 and 19-11 on April 15.

Scouting UConn
The Huskies are 17-10-1 overall and 3-3 in The American with wins over Georgia State, Georgia Tech, SE Louisiana twice, North Florida, The Citadel, Coastal Carolina, St. John's twice, Central Connecticut twice, USF, Boston College, Hartford twice and UCF twice. Losses have come against Kennesaw State, SE Louisiana, North Florida twice, The Citadel twice, St. John's, USF twice, and UCF. The tie was against Bryant. Leading the way offensively is Zac Susi who is hitting .323 with three doubles, one home run and 13 RBI. The team is hitting .266 with a 3.84 ERA and .973 fielding percentage. The Huskies are led by head coach Jim Penders.

Series History vs. the Huskies
UConn leads the overall series with Wichita State 1-0. The lone meeting between the two teams was Feb. 21, 2014 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. UConn won the game 2-1 in 10 innings. Casey Gillaspie went 2-for-4, while Micah Green went 2-for-5. Reliever Ray Ashford took the loss.

Shockers Ranked as High as 20th
The Wichita State baseball team is ranked No. 30 in the April 9 Collegiate Baseball Poll, No. 20 in the D1Baseball poll, No. 20 in the USA Today Coaches poll and No. 20 in the NCBWA poll. The Shockers were ranked No. 22 in the March 5 poll. It was the first time the Shockers had been ranked in the top-25 since March 27, 2011 when they were No. 24.

Dugas Gets 100th Hit
Junior outfielder Dayton Dugas recorded his 100th career hit in the win over Oklahoma State on April 4. His 100th hit was a game-winning two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

National Leaders
Wichita State already has five grand slams this season, which leads the NCAA. Austin Peay, Coastal Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee Tech are in second with four grand slams. Individually, Alec Bohm is tied for the national lead with three grand slams. Matt Wallner of Southern Miss also has three.

11 Different Shockers
Eleven different Shockers have hit a home run this season. Tennessee Tech leads the nation with 15 different players.

Bohm Named to American Honor Roll
Wichita State baseball student-athlete Alec Bohm has been named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll for the week of April 2-8. Bohm, a junior third baseman from Omaha, Neb., led the Shockers to a 3-1 week including a non-conference win over Oklahoma State and a series win over Tulane. He went 7-for-17 (.412) with seven runs, one double, one home run, four RBI, two walks and a stolen base. Against OSU, he went 2-for-5 with a run and in game one against the Green Wave he went 1-for-4 with a run, two RBI and a double. In game one against Tulane, he collected his 100th career RBI. In game two against Tulane, he went 2-for-4 with two runs, a RBI, a walk and a stolen base and in the finale he went 2-for-4 with three runs, a RBI, a walk and a home run.

Eddy Dominant at Eck
Freshman pitcher Liam Eddy improved to 6-1 overall with a 1.94 ERA in eight starts this season with a win over Tulane on Saturday. In five home starts, he is now 5-0 with a 0.54 ERA. He has pitched 33.1 innings at Eck Stadium and allowed just two earned runs on 19 hits with five walks and 24 strikeouts.

Killgore Out of the Pen
Sophomore left-hander Keylan Killgore has been impressive out of the bullpen this season. In 11 relief appearances, he is 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA. He has allowed one run in 12 innings pitched out of the bullpen and has struck out 14.
