HUNTSVILLE, Texas. – The Wichita State softball team fell to the No. 4 Washington Huskies, 7-0, on day three of the Bearkat Classic to move to 5-4 overall.

Washington began the game with a leadoff walk with a double through the center getting a Husky home. A two-run homer made it four in the third with two impressive defensive plays getting the Shockers out of the inning.

Bailey Lange (3-2) started in the circle, pitching three innings and striking out three. She reached first on an error in the second then stole second, her seventh of the year, but the Shockers couldn't get her around.

Mackenzie Wright singled to left-center in the third, but reigning Pac-12 pitcher of the week Taryn Alvelo sat down the Shockers to get out of the inning.

A leadoff solo home run in the fourth added another for the Huskies with a walk, stolen base and single adding another in the fifth. A double and single in the sixth made it 7-0 Washington.

Wright had another strong plate appearance in the sixth, down two strikes before patiently drawing a walk. A pop out and groundout stopped the Shockers from getting her home.

The Shockers made the Huskies go the full seven innings for the first time this season but couldn't get on the scoreboard.

Wichita State now moves on to the Texas Tournament Feb. 23-25 where they will face Ohio State, Texas, Michigan and Virginia Tech.
