Shockers Take Series With 11-2 Win

LAKE CHARLES, La. – Wichita State earned a road series win with an 11-2 victory in game two of the three-game series at McNeese State.
 
Alec Bohm went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles, while Mason O'Brien and Gunnar Troutwine each had two RBI for the Shockers.
 
Starter Liam Eddy went 5.1 innings and gave up two runs on six hits with one walk and six strikeouts.
 
The Shockers wasted no time getting on the board. Luke Ritter led off with a walk and scored on a double off the wall in right-center from Alec Bohm for a 1-0 lead.
 
WSU added a run in the third with a little help from the Cowboys. With one out, Greyson Jenista walked, stole second and went to third on an error on the McNeese catcher. After Bohm walked, Mason O'Brien's grounder scored Jenista to push the lead to 2-0.
 
The Shockers used a two-out rally to increase the lead in the fourth. With two outs, Gunnar Troutwine walked and scored on a double off the right field wall by Jordan Boyer. Luke Ritter followed with a double to score Boyer for a 4-0 lead.
 
McNeese used a two-run home run from Shane Selman to cut the lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth.
 
WSU added to the lead in the sixth. Alex Jackson led off with a single and scored on Gunnar Troutwine's home run to left field. After walks to Ritter and Jenista, O'Brien followed with a single to score Ritter and give the Shockers a 7-2 lead.
 
Four more came home in the eighth courtesy of a two-run double from Bohm, a pinch-hit RBI single from Jacob Katzfey and a wild pitch from the Cowboys for an 11-2 advantage.
 
The Shockers and Cowboys wrap up the series on Sun., Feb. 19 at 11 a.m.
