Shockers Fall in NIVC Second Round, 3-1

DENTON, Texas – The Wichita State University volleyball team saw its 2018 season end after falling to North Texas, 3-1, in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) second round Friday, Nov. 30, inside the North Texas Volleyball Center. The set scores were 19-25, 26-24, 14-25 and 21-25.

The Shockers end their season with an overall record of 14-18, while the Mean Green advance to the third round of the NIVC and improve to 19-16 overall.
 
Redshirt freshman Megan Taflinger tallied 17 kills and hit .275 to lead Wichita State, while Tabitha Brown posted a double-double with 16 kills and 14 digs. Kora Kauling added 28 assists, and Giorgia Civita compiled 17 digs, respectively.
 
Valerie Valerian, who was one of five North Texas players to reach double figures in kills, led the Mean Green with 18 kills, while Karley York had a match-high 59 assists and Sarah Haeussler posted a match-best six blocks.
 
UNT outhit WSU, .390 to .200, and had nine blocks compared to just four for the Shockers. In addition, North Texas tallied advantages in kills (72-51), assists (68-46) and digs (65-50) in the match.
