CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Wichita State University volleyball team was swept at Cincinnati, 3-0, Friday, Nov. 2, inside Fifth Third Arena. The Shockers lost by set scores of 23-25, 12-25 and 17-25.
Wichita State (11-12, 6-6 American) is scheduled to travel to East Carolina on Sunday, Nov. 4, for a 1 p.m. ET conference match.
Senior
Tabitha Brown led the Shockers, tallying eight kills on 20 attempts with one error for a .350 hitting percentage. Brown added five digs, two blocks and a service ace in the contest.
Megan Taflinger also compiled eight kills, while
Kora Kauling had 20 assists, respectively.

Wichita State led 23-19 in the opening set before Cincinnati (20-6, 10-2 American) caught fire and scored the final six points of the set to pull off the 25-23 comeback victory and gain a 1-0 advantage in the match.

Set two was tied 4-4 after a Brown kill before the Bearcats broke the stalemate with four straight points to take an 8-4 lead. WSU would get no closer than three points the remainder of the set, as Cincinnati coasted to a 25-12 triumph to increase its match lead to 2-0.

The Shockers and Bearcats were deadlocked, 10-all, in the third set prior to Cincinnati scoring three consecutive points to gain a 13-10 advantage. The Bearcats were able to keep WSU from getting no closer than two points on their way to completing the sweep with a 25-17 victory in set three.

Jordan Thompson posted a match-high 24 kills and hit .611 to pace Cincinnati, while Jade Tingelhoff compiled a double-double with 40 assists and 11 digs.
