Adams Collects 300th Win in 63-60 OT Victory

WICHITA, Kan. – Carla Bremaud's game-tying three-pointer with 3.7 seconds remaining in regulation sent the game into overtime before Wichita State eventually came out on top, 63-60 vs. Missouri State Saturday afternoon in Charles Koch Arena.

The win also marked head coach Keitha Adams' 300th career win at the Division I level and moved the Shockers to 2-0 on the season for the first time since the 2005-06 season.

Bremaud led Wichita State with 15 points on just 2-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc, but none proved more clutch than her NBA range triple from the top of the key to force overtime. WSU improved to 18-20 all-time in overtime games. This was WSU's first overtime game since Feb. 14, 2016 vs. Loyola.

Raven Prince recorded her first career double-double leading the Shockers with 12 rebounds and a career high 12 points, while Sabrina Lozada-Cabbage added 13 points before fouling out in regulation. For the second straight game Seraphine Bastin dished out six assists.

Bremaud started things off strong for the Shockers in the first quarter with a pair of free throws and a three pointer, leading Wichita State to a 10-4 run. Missouri State would answer back with a 6-0 run of its own tying the game at 10-10.  The Shockers responded with a 4-0 run capped off by a pair of free throws from Lozada-Cabbage and a mid-range jumper from Jaida Hampton giving the Shockers a 17-15 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Layups by Prince and Ashley Reid extended the Shockers' lead to 21-15, while the defense held the Bears scoreless for the first 6:30 of the second quarter. Prince continued to lead the Shockers with two more baskets, while the defense held the Bears to 0-of-16 from the field as Wichita led 27-21 going into the half.

Wichita State came out in the second half hitting four of their first five field goals, including a 6-0 run started by a Bremaud jumper and a pair of layups from Lozada-Cabbage extending the Shockers lead 36-28. The Bears clawed their way back with an 8-0 run, before Bremaud entered double-digits with a jumper in the paint giving the Shockers a 42-38 lead at the end of three.

A pair of free throws from Prince extended the Shockers' lead by five to 45-40, before a 7-0 Missouri State run including a three pointer and layup from Shameka Ealy gave the Bears a 49-46 lead. With time running down Bremaud drilled a three pointer from the top of the key to send the game into overtime tied at 53.

Missouri State took the early lead in overtime, before a pair of free throws and jumper from Bastin gave the Shockers a 57-55 lead. A jumper and a made free throw from Reid extended the Shocker lead giving the Shockers a 63-60 victory.
