DALLAS – The Wichita State volleyball team fell at SMU, 3-2, on Friday, Oct. 19, inside Moody Coliseum. The Shockers dropped the match by set scores of 16-25, 25-22, 25-16, 14-25 and 15-17.
Wichita State (9-10, 4-4 American Athletic Conference) is scheduled to close out its two-match road trip with a contest at Houston Sunday, Oct. 21, at 1 p.m.
Sophomore
Abby Pugh matched her career-high with 13 kills and hit a career-best .417, while senior
Tabitha Brown tallied her sixth double-double of the season with a match-high 15 kills to go along with 19 digs, leading the Shockers.
Redshirt freshman
Kora Kauling added a match-best 42 assists while sophomore
Giorgia Civita posted a team-high 21 digs, respectively.
Rachel Woulfe and Ryan Palmieri each had 13 kills to lead the Mustangs (7-11, 4-4 American Athletic Conference), while Lily Heim compiled 21 assists and Montana Watts added a match-high 30 digs.
Both teams posted 10 blocks for the match, but SMU outhit WSU, .223 to .163, and tallied four service aces while Wichita State only had one.
