IOWA CITY, Iowa – Sandra Honigova collected a win and advanced to the third round of singles Saturday at the ITA Central Regional.
 
Five Shockers were in action Saturday, with Ting-Ya Hsu, Saidhujaeva, Honigova, Marta Bellucco and Alexandra Lazarova all competing in the singles main draw. Saidhujaeva and Hsu teamed up in second round doubles play.
 
Saidhujaeva, a junior from Uzbekistan, started the day off on a high note, rolling past Isa Sullivan of North Dakota (6-3, 6-0).  Lazarova took on Manon Muelenberg of Tulsa after qualifying into main draw. After falling in the first (6-2), Lazarova battled with Muelenberg before fallin in a tiebreaker, 7-6.
 
Bellucco took on Kianah Motosono of Oklahoma in first round action. The junior from Italy took the first set (6-3), before losing sets two and three (6-3, 6-3). Hsu received a luck loser bid into the main draw and took on Alina Munteanu of SIEU. Hsu let an early lead get away, falling 7-6(4) in the second. Trailing early in the second, Hsu rallied to tie the set at four. Munteanu won the final two games to take the match (7-6 (4), 6-4). Hsu took on Alye Darter of Missouri State in a consolation match, falling 6-2, 6-4.
 
Saidhujaeva and Hsu, who were seeded 9-16, took on Tulsa's Capogrosso and Mathoula in the Round of 32. The Golden Hurricane duo came out on top, 8-2.
 
In the Round of 64, Saidhujaeva fell to Tulsa's Arianna Capogrosso, (6-2, 6-2).
 
Honigova took on Juliet Zhang of Minneesota in her first appearance at the ITA Central Regional. The Shockers' lone senior rolled over Zhang in straight sets (6-3, 6-3) to advance to Sunday's Round of 32..
 
Honigova will look for a spot in the quarterfinals tomorrow with a time TBA.
