DALLAS, Texas – Dallas Baptist scored seven runs in the first two innings on the way to a 13-2 win over Wichita State in game two of a three-game series.
Trey Vickers went 2-for-3, while
Willie Schwanke and
Dayton Dugas each drove in a run.
Starter
Cody Tyler went 1.2 innings and gave up seven runs on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
With one out in the first,
Greyson Jenista walked and scored on a two-out double from
Willie Schwanke to put the Shockers up 1-0.
The Patriots quickly answered in the bottom of the first. Jameson Hannah led off with a double and Devlin Granberg was hit by a pitch. Matt Duce's one-out single scored Hannah to tie the game at one and Cameron Duzenack hit a three-run home run with two outs to give the Patriots a 4-1 lead.
DBU used a two-out rally to add to the lead in the second. With two outs, Hannah walked and scored on a double from Granberg. Austin Listi followed with a two-run home run to push the Patriot lead to 7-1.
Dayton Dugas' two-out RBI single pulled the Shocks within 7-2 in the fourth, but the Patriots used three hits, a hit batsman, a walk and a sacrifice fly to add two more in the sixth for a 9-2 lead.
The Patriots added four runs in the seventh for the 13-2 run-rule victory.
The Shockers and Patriots wrap up the series on Sun., May 7 at 1 p.m. at Horner Ballpark.
