TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Wichita State evened the series with a 5-2 win over Indiana State in game two of a three-game series.
Travis Young went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a triple, while
Jordan Boyer went 2-for-3 and
Luke Ritter went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Starter
Codi Heuer went six innings and gave up one run on four hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
Greyson Jenista led off the game with a walk and moved to second on a groundout from
Trey Vickers. With two outs,
Willie Schwanke singled up the middle to score Jenista for a 1-0 Shocker lead.
With one out in the second,
Alex Jackson doubled to right field and scored on a triple from
Travis Young for a 2-0 Shocker lead. Young scored on a wild pitch to push the lead to 3-0.
Jeff Zahn's RBI groundout cut the Shocker lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the second.
The Shockers added to the lead in the seventh.
Jordan Boyer led off with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Jenista. With two outs,
Alec Bohm was intentionally walked and Schwanke walked to load the bases.
Luke Ritter followed with a two-run single to right field to put the Shockers up 5-1.
Tony Rosselli's home run in the ninth made the final score 5-2.
The Shockers and Sycamores wrap up the series on Sat., May 20 at 1 p.m. Central time.
