SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Missouri State used two five-run innings to defeat Wichita State 13-4 in game two of a three-game series.
Noah Croft went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a home run.
Starter
Cody Tyler went 3.1 innings and gave up four runs on three hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
The Bears loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the first courtesy of a walk, single and hit batsman. Hunter Steinmetz scored on Blake Graham's sacrifice fly, but that was it as the Bears took a 1-0 lead.
MSU added to the lead in the fourth. Alex Jefferson led off with a home run and with one out, Lucas Geha was hit by a pitch and Steinmetz walked. Jake Burger followed with a home run to put the Bears up 5-0. MSU added an unearned run to increase the lead to 6-0.
Graham's RBI double put the Bears up 7-0 in the sixth, but the Shockers finally got to MSU starter Dylan Coleman in the seventh.
Alec Bohm led off the inning with a walk and scored on a home run from
Noah Croft to cut the lead to 7-2.
Trey Vickers followed with a double and
Luke Ritter drove him in with a triple to centerfield. Ritter scored on a wild pitch to cut the lead to 7-4.
The Bears used a wild pitch and a Graham grand slam to add five more in the seventh for a 12-4 lead and scored one more in the eighth.
