RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth to come back and beat Wichita State 12-10 in the final game of the series.
Jordan Boyer went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a double, while
Sam Goodwin went 3-for-5 with two RBI and
Greyson Jenista,
Dayton Dugas, and
Trey Vickers each had two hits and a RBI.
Starter
Zach Lewis went four innings and gave up two runs on two hits with four walks and no strikeouts.
The Shockers broke through in the fourth inning. Jenista led off the inning with a single and
Alec Bohm followed with a walk. Dugas grounded out to advance both runners and Vickers singled home Jenista for a 1-0 lead.
Sam Goodwin followed with a single to score Bohm and then Boyer's two-out double drove in both Vickers and Goodwin for a 4-0 Shocker lead.
Chase Lunceford answered with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth for LaTech, but the Shockers got the run back in the top of the fifth.
Luke Ritter walked to lead off the inning and came around to score on a two-out double from Dugas to put the Shocks up 5-1.
The Bulldogs tied the score in the fifth. LaTech used three singles, a hit batsman, a walk, a sacrifice fly and a wild pitch to score four runs and tie the score at five.
LaTech gave the Shockers two runs in the sixth as WSU did not record a hit. An error, two hit batsmen, two walks and a wild pitch put the Shockers up 7-5.
The Bulldogs pulled to within 7-6 after scoring a run on a wild pitch in the seventh inning and hit two home runs in the eighth to go in front 12-7.
The Shockers used hits from Jenista, Bohm, Goodwin and Boyer in the ninth to score three to cut the lead to 12-10.
The Shockers are next in action on Tue., March 7 at Oklahoma at 6:30 p.m.
