Box Score NORMAN, Okla. - The Wichita State women's tennis team fell to No. 50 Oklahoma by a score of 5-2 Saturday at the Headington Family Tennis Center.

Oklahoma (7-2) took the doubles point after being pushed to the third match. Julie Byrne/Malene Stripp started off with a 6-3 win over Gabriela Porubin/Fatima Bizhukova in the top flight. Wichita State (5-6) bounced back, with Marta Bellucco/Giulia Guidetti handling Christiana Brigante/Serena Nash 6-1 in the third flight. The win ends a four-straight losing streak for the Shocker duo. Oklahoma - who just joined the Oracle/ITA national rankings at No. 50 - won the point after Lily Miyazaki/Simran Sethi won 6-4 over Tanaporn Thongsing/Ting-Ya Hsu in the second flight.

The Shockers didn't score any points in singles play until after OU had already clinched the match. Guidetti fell to No. 22 Miyazaki 6-2, 6-4 in the first flight, the first of four consecutive Sooner victories. Porubin battled Mimi Fotopoulos to three sets, ultimately winning 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (10-6) in the second flight. Thongsing picked up her team-best 19th win on the season, also in three sets, defeating Stripp 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

"Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to the opponent," said head coach Colin Foster. "Oklahoma played a complete match from start to finish on every court. We created some chances here and there, but in the end they were the better team."

Up Next:
Wichita State returns home for a key match against No. 8 Texas Tech on Wed., March 8. The match will be at the Coleman Tennis Complex (weather permitting), and is set to start at 2 p.m. "We're excited to host a top-10 program, and I trust we will embrace the challenge," said Foster.
