WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State used a six-run fifth inning to come back and beat Northern Colorado 10-4.
Jordan Boyer went 3-for-4 with four RBI and a home run, while
Greyson Jenista went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two doubles.
Starter
Tommy Barnhouse went three shutout innings with four strikeouts. Reliever
Adam Keller earned the win. He pitched 1.1 innings and gave up one run on one hit with three strikeouts.
The Shockers jumped in front in the second inning with an RBI single from
Dayton Dugas, a sacrifice fly from
Gunnar Troutwine and an RBI single for Boyer to put WSU up 3-0.
UNC tied it in the fourth. Evan Johnson homered with one out and Jack Pauley hit a two-run home run to tie the score at three.
The Bears took the lead in the fifth after a leadoff walk. Johnson's two-out double brought in the go ahead run to give UNC the 4-3 lead.
WSU answered in the bottom of the inning. Jenista's RBI double tied the score at four and
Trey Vickers' RBI single gave WSU the 5-4 lead. With two outs, Boyer hit his first career home run, a grand slam, to put the Shockers up 9-4.
Jenista's RBI double increased the lead to 10-4 in the sixth.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., March 17 when they travel to Cal Poly.
