No. 21 Shockers Sweep Huskies, 3-0

WICHITA, Kan. - No. 21 Wichita State used 12 kills from Abbie Lehman to sweep UConn inside Charles Koch Arena and remain undefeated in The American.  The Shockers [21-3, 13-0] won by scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-11. Mikaela Raudsepp added seven kills to go along with eight digs and two service aces for the Shockers. Emily Hiebert finished with 30 assists, with nine digs and hit .750 with six kills. Lehman hit .632 for WSU.

Set 1:
• The teams exchanged kills until a 5-0 run gave the Shockers a 7-2 lead
• The Huskies cut into the lead until Lehman's fourth kill of the night and a block by Tabitha Brown and Emma Wright pushed the lead back to five at 11-6
• The Shockers kept a four point lead until an attack error and kill from Koon pushed the lead to six at 18-12 and forced a UConn timeout
• A kill from Brown, service ace from Hiebert and kill from Raudsepp gave the Shockers a 25-14 win
• Lehman led the Shockers with five kills while Brown and Raudsepp had three and two
 
Set 2:
• The Huskies took the opening point before a 5-0 run gave the Shockers an early 5-1 lead
• UConn cut into the lead before a a kill from Hiebert and attack error by the Huskies pushed the lead back to five at 12-7
• Lehman's sixth kill of the night kept the lead at four [15-11] at the media timeout
• A 3-0 run out the timeout, including two Raudsepp kills, forced a Huskie timeout at 18-11
• Raudsepp's fourth kill of the night followed by a kill from Brown gave the Shockers a 25-16 win
 
Set 3:
• Kills from Raudsepp and Lehman and a service ace from Raudsepp gave the Shockers an early 3-0 lead
• A 4-0 Uconn run gave the Huskies the lead until a service error, attack error and service ace from Koon put the Shockers back up 6-4
• Back to back kills from Hiebert pushed the Shockers lead to five at 11-6
• Kills from Wright, Raudsepp and Lehman pushed the lead to seven at 17-10 and forced a UConn timeout
• A 6-0 scoring run finished by a Hiebert kill gave the Shockers a 25-11 win

The Shockers are next in action Sunday, as they host second place Temple inside Charles Koch Arena at 12 p.m.
