LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Wichita State women's tennis team finished play at the ITA Central Regional in Lawrence Saturday afternoon.
Three Shockers competed on the day, with sophomore
Ting-Ya Hsu competing in consolation play, while freshman
Alexandra Lazarova and sophomore
Marta Bellucco competed in extra matches.
Bellucco started the day for WSU, and went up against Carolina Costamagna of Kansas State. Bellucco defeated Costamagna 6-0, ret. Lazarova faced Alexandrina Chinikova of Tulsa and lost in a tiebreaker, 6-4, 6-7(6), 1-0(4). In the second round of consolation play, Hsu was defeated by Saint Louis' Cassie McKenzie 6-3, 6-3 to end the tournament for the Shockers.
For the tournament,
Fatima Bizhukova went 2-1, with victories over Torrico of Missouri State and Poppe of Tulsa, before falling to Decker of Kansas State. Four Shockers compiled a record of 1-1 in singles play, and two doubles tandems also went 1-1.
The Shockers will wrap up the fall slate with a trip to Dallas, Texas, to take part in the SMU Red and Blue Challenge Nov. 3-5 at the SMU Tennis Complex. Â
