Women's Tennis Live Scoring
STILLWATER, Okla. and FORTH WORTH, Texas - The men's and women's tennis teams lost their matches on the opening day of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend event. The men lost 4-1 to Utah State, and the women were defeated 4-0 by TCU.
On the men's side, the Shockers won two matches in doubles play to pick up the team's lone point.
Eddie Stoica and
Haru Inoue defeated USU's Jonas Maier and Jack Swindells 6-2.
Jocelyn Devilliers and
Murkel Dellien won 6-3 over Sergiu Bucur and Jaime Barajas. Inoue and Dellien's matches went unfinished in singles play after Utah State had already clinched the match.
The men will play tomorrow at noon against Pacific in the consolation match, who lost 4-0 to host school TCU today. Live stats will not be available for the Shockers.
For the women, No. 93-ranked
Giulia Guidetti was leading her match 6-3, 5-3 in the top singles spot, but went unfinished after TCU had already won the match. The Horned Frogs took the doubles point, and picked up the remaining points before
Tanaporn Thongsing and
Marta Bellucco could finish their matches. 2016 MVC Player of the Year
Gabriela Porubin lost to No. 75 Seda Arantekin in the second singles slot. TCU defeated the Shockers last season to eliminate WSU from the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The women will take on Cornell, who were swept by host school Oklahoma State this afternoon. That match will be played tomorrow at 10 a.m.
