DES MOINES, Iowa – Wichita State won its 32nd-straight match over Drake with a 3-0 win. The Shockers won by scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-18.
Tabitha Brown led the Shockers with 11 kills, while
Mikaela Raudsepp and
Abbie Lehman each added 10.
Emily Hiebert had 41 assists and 13 digs and
Jody Larson had 13 digs and seven kills.
The first set went back and forth until the Shockers used a 4-0 run to take a 12-8 lead. Two-straight kills from
Jody Larson increased the lead to 18-11 and kills from
Emily Hiebert and
Tabitha Brown pushed the lead to 23-15. WSU won the set 25-17 on a kill from
Katy Dudzinski.
The Shockers raced out to a 6-0 lead in the first set and increased the lead to 19-11 after back-to-back service aces from Brown. A Brown kill brought the Shockers to set point at 24-17 and WSU won the set 25-20.
The Bulldogs took an early 4-0 lead in the third set, but the Shockers rallied to tie it at six after kills from Raudsepp and Hiebert. The two teams traded points until the Shockers used two-straight kills from Lehman to take a 19-16 lead. A service ace from
Dani Mostrom and a kill from Brown increased the lead to 21-16 and WSU won the set 25-18.
The Shockers are next in action on Sat., Oct. 1 when they play at UNI at 7 p.m.
