Scouting No. 3 Oklahoma: After winning its fifth straight Big 12 Championship, the Oklahoma Sooner softball team is the No. 3 overall seed and will be the host for the Norman Regional. The third seed is the highest since they were the No. 1 overall seed in 2013.
Every year for the past 10 years, the Sooners have been a national seed. Entering the tournament, the Sooners are riding a nation leading 22-game winning streak. The Sooners record is 47-7 overall and 17-1 in Big 12 play.
All-time, the Sooners are 45-7 against Wichita State and have won the last 32 meetings, which is Oklahoma's longest active streak against an opponent.
Both teams met earlier this year, with the Sooners defeating the Shockers 10-1 in five innings.
Scouting Tulsa: The Tulsa softball team will be making its eighth all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament when the Golden Hurricane face off with Ole Miss in the first game of the Norman Regional.
The Golden Hurricane have a record of 35-19 overall and earned an automatic bid after defeating No. 24 USF, 4-0, in the American Athletic Conference Championship game.
All of Tulsa's tournament appearances have come recently, going in, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.
This season, the Shockers faced off with the Golden Hurricane twice, with Wichita State winning both meetings, by scores of 11-3 and 7-5.
Scouting Ole Miss: For the first time in school history, the Rebels will be attending the NCAA Tournament for softball. The Rebels will play Tulsa in the first round on ESPN3.
The Rebels set a school record for wins this season with 39, and also tied a school record for SEC wins. Ole Miss also finished the season with nine wins against top-50 RPI teams.
Ole Miss is one out of the 11 teams from the SEC to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament, with eight schools from the SEC earning national seeds.
Wichita State has not faced Ole Miss this season.
Marita Hynes Field:
Marita Hynes Field at the OU Softball Complex has been one of the sparkling gems of the sport since it opened its doors in 1998. Nearly every postseason game in the home of the 2000 and 2013 national champion has been sold out.
Shockers News and Notes:
2016: For the first time in

The Shockers have every single starter batting over .300 on the season, for a team batting average of .311.
