Wichita State jumped on the board in the home half of the first inning. Back-to-back singles to lead off the game from Mucha and Greyson Jenista put runners at first and third with no outs. After Jenista advanced to second on a wild pitch, Ryan Tinkham plated the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly to right field. Then, Troutwine hit a sacrifice fly of his own to score Mucha and give the Shockers a 2-0 advantage after one inning.

Another sacrifice fly in the second inning, this time by Jenista, scored Trey Vickers to stretch the Wichita State lead to 3-0.

TCU cut the Shocker lead to 3-2 in the top of the fourth inning. After back-to-back doubles by Luken Baker and Elliott Barzilli, Baker scored on a wild pitch. Barzilli scored when Josh Watson singled up the middle.

Wichita State answered in its half of the fourth. After Vickers walked on four straight pitches to lead off the inning and a double to left-field by Dayton Dugas, Mucha plated Vickers on a RBI groundout. Dugas scored three batters later on a single to left-center field by Troutwine that put the Shockers back ahead by three, 5-2.

With two outs in the top of the fifth, the Horned Frogs added two runs on two straight hits by Cam Warner and Evan Skoug to cut the Wichita State lead to 5-4.

TCU took its first lead of the game in sixth inning when a sacrifice fly by Mason Hesse scored Barzilli, and a wild pitch scored Watson to give the Horned Frogs a 6-5 lead.

The visitors broke open the game in the next inning, scoring five runs, two of those on a home run over the right field wall by Watson, to take a 11-5 advantage going into the seventh inning stretch.

The Horned Frogs added another five runs in the eighth and one in the ninth to put the score at 17-5.

Back-to-back doubles by Jordan Boyer and Luke Ritter in the bottom of the ninth scored a run, but TCU went on to win 17-6.
