HEAD COACH, GREGG MARSHALL ON…
…Today's win
"We accomplished our first team goal to be 4-0 heading into the Bahamas. We took care of our home games here, and now we will head down to the Bahamas where the competition will be stiff. We know that, and we are looking forward to that challenge. I think we are pretty healthy coming out of this game and obviously, the offense was clicking."
…Tying the school record with 15 three-pointers
"We shot 62.5 percent for the game from three, and that's a great number. Some of them were just coming out of their hand so confidently and quickly."
ZACH BROWN ON…
…how good this team is.
"I would just say we are taking it one game at a time. There's no really telling how good a team really is until the end of the season. There's a lot of things that we still need to work on and there is a lot that we could still get better at, so our potential is steadily going up and we are continuing to get better every day. That is the best thing about his team right now."
…the Bahamas trip.
"All these games have been preparing us for this moment. I'm pretty sure that these guys have watched The Battle for Atlantis tournament, ever since they were kids, and a lot of guys outside of Conner (Frankamp) have never stepped foot in the Bahamas before. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a good learning experience, good or bad.
…players contributing off the bench.
"It's great. It's great seeing no drop off between the first group and the second group, and maybe even the third group. You can see in the game, we completely platoon-swapped a couple times and even then, we had the one man coming in for the four man, so we are versatile in many different forms of the game."
…the alley-oop from Austin Reaves.
"They were in a set defense… It was just an excellent pass, a pretty good catch and everybody executed their job the right way. When you do things like that, plays like that can happen for you."
LANDRY SHAMET ON…
…if he saw this shooting night coming.
"I just try to stay even-keeled. I didn't shoot too well last game, and I knew that. I'm a shooter at the end of the day so still having confidence and not being hesitant. After I hit the first one, I felt good so I just kept letting it go and they kept falling."
…the team shooting well.
"I mean, that is what we can do. We got a whole bunch of guys that are shooters. I can't say there was any indication, but it's not like I am really surprised. We got a lot of guys that can come out on any night and hit three or four threes."
…the game starting to slow down.
"Yeah, obviously you are going to get more comfortable as the year goes on, and that has happened, with not only me but with some other guys and coaches and everybody. I don't think it is anything drastic as much as last year, I remember everything in that first game was going so fast and I kind of calmed down early last year, so I have felt pretty comfortable with any situation really.
DAISHON SMITH ON…
…shooting well.
"I would say just putting up shots and believing in myself, staying confident and every shot was open. I have been in the gym for hours daily, so just believing in myself and just letting it go."
…the guards improving defensively.
"Just competing. Everybody wants to win, everybody wants to prove themselves, so defensively, we all take every matchup as a personal thing. Not wanting a guy to score and just taking it personal."
