One of the Shockers' most durable and successful pitchers.
 
  • His 49 career victories ranks second on the all-time Shocker listing.
  • Led the Shockers into the 1988 College World Series with a 14-5 mark .
  • He picked up an opening-round 5-4 victory over Florida .
  • Burst onto the scene as a freshman in 1985 by recording 10 straight victories on his way to a 12-1 mark .
  • Named first-team Freshman All-America that year by Baseball America magazine .
  • Delivered a remarkable 7-2 complete-game victory over Oklahoma State in the '85 NCAA Midwest Regional that was spread over two days because of rain .
  • Struck out 353 batters in his career, fourth-best in the Shocker record book .
  • Also ranks among the Shocker all-time leaders in appearances (84), games started (59), complete games (22), innings pitched (457) and winning percentage (.831) .
  • A third-team All-American in 1987 after posting a 15-2 record .
  • Three times was named first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference and was the league's Pitcher of the Year in 1988 .
  • Drafted and played professionally for the Detroit Tigers. Inducted, 1996.
