Charlie Adams, after 33 years of dedicated service to the Wichita State Athletic program, is still an integral part of Shocker athletics. Adams began at Wichita State in 1949 as foreman of buildings and grounds, a position he held until 1966. In 1952, he began to travel with Shocker athletic teams, particularly football, handling equipment and various other duties. In 1966, Adams retired from state employment, but athletic director Bob Kirkpatrick asked him to continue as supervisor of facilities for WSU athletics. Adams continued with the athletic program facility maintenance crews, until his retirement in 1974. But, the retirement was brief, and he has continued to be actively involved with the supervision and maintenance of Shocker athletic facilities over the past eight years. Inducted, 1982.
