Reeves was the head athletic trainer for seven years until the tragic 1970 football team plane crash claimed his life.

• he is said to have assisted several of the injured players at the crash site before falling victim to his own injuries.
• was highly regarded as an athletic trainer and turned down several job opportunities to remain at Wichita State.
• he worked many hours with little help to assist WSU athletes in the prevention and treatment of athletic injuries.
• despite his busy work schedule he always had time to help other staff members or community members with advice about injuries.
