Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – No. 14 Missouri State won the series over Wichita State with a 9-1 win in game two.
Gunnar Troutwine, Sam Hilliard, Zach Reding and Mikel Mucha each had a hit for the Shockers.
Starter Chase Williams went 4.1 innings and gave up seven runs on five hits with nine walks and three strikeouts.
The Shockers jumped on the board in the top of the first. With one out, Ryan Tinkham walked and moved to second on a wild pitch. With two outs, Gunnar Troutwine singled to left field to drive in Tinkham for a 1-0 lead.
The Bears took the lead in the bottom of the third. With the bases loaded and two outs, Jake Burger singled to the shortstop to drive in a run and another run scored on a Shocker error to put the Bears up 2-1. MSU added another run on an RBI single from Justin Paulsen.
MSU broke it open with four runs in the fifth. The Bears took a 7-1 lead with three singles and four walks. The Bears added one more in the seventh and one in the eighth for the 9-1 final score.
The Shockers and Bears wrap up the series on Sun., May 3 at 1:05 p.m.
