Box Score MANHATTAN, Kan. – Ryan Tinkham hit two home runs, but it was not enough as Kansas State defeated Wichita State 5-4 in 10 innings.
Tinkham went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two walks.
Starter Jeb Bargfeldt earned a no decision. He went two innings and gave up no runs on one hit with one strikeout.
With one out in the top of the first, Ryan Tinkham hit his fourth home run of the season to give the Shocks an early 1-0 lead.
Trey Vickers and Daniel Kihle led off with singles in the top of the third. With two outs, Gunnar Troutwine drove in Vickers with a single and Chase Rader doubled in another run for a 3-0 lead.
Tinkham's fifth home run of the season increased the lead to 4-0 in the fifth.
KSU answered in the bottom of the fifth. Tyler Moore led off with a single and Danny Krause walked. With one out, Jake Wodtke reached on a bunt single and Moore scored on a Shocker error. Carter Yagi followed with an RBI groundout and Clayton Dalrymple doubled in Wodtke to cut the lead to 4-3.
The Wildcats tied it in the ninth with a two-out single from Dalrymple and used a two-out single from Wodtke in the bottom of the 10th to win 5-4.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., April 17 at Bradley at 6 p.m.
