WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State women's tennis team – ranked No. 25 nationally – swept two dual matches Saturday against Missouri State (7-0) and Kansas State (4-0).

WSU (14-3, 1-0 Missouri Valley Conference) extended its home winning streak to 22 matches and – with the victory over MSU - has now won 59 consecutive duals against MVC competition, dating back to 2009.

The Shockers won the doubles point and all six singles matches without dropping a set to dispatch MSU (3-11). It was the first MVC dual for the Bears (who restarted their women's tennis program last fall) in nearly nine years.

Julia Schiller and Giulia Guidetti each produced 6-0, 6-0 sweeps at No. 1 and 6 singles to lead the charge.

WSU had to work harder in its afternoon match against K-State. The Shockers clinched the doubles point but trailed early in four of the six singles tilts.

Gabriela Porubin extended her winning streak to 10 matches with a 6-4, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 spot.

Three Shockers dropped their opening sets, but all three bounced back to win in the second.

Lucia Kovalova closed out a win at No. 5 singles, and Aleks Trifunovic battled back from down 5-2 in the second set of her No. 6 match to win the clincher, 6-3, 7-5.

The Shockers continue MVC play on the road next weekend at Evansville (Friday, 2 p.m.) and at Southern Illinois (Saturday, 11 a.m.).
