Box Score STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 12 Oklahoma State used a four-run fourth to defeat Wichita State 8-3 on Tuesday night at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
Daniel Kihle went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a walk for the Shockers.
Starter Tyler Jones went 3.2 innings and gave up five runs on four hits with three walks and six strikeouts.
The Cowboys took the early lead with a run in the bottom of the second. With one out, Dustin Williams walked and stole second. With two outs, Kevin Bradley singled through the right side to score Williams and give OSU a 1-0 lead.
OSU added to the lead in the fourth. Conor Costello led off with a single, stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch. With one out, Corey Hassel walked and stole second and Bradley doubled to left-center to drive in Costello and Hassel for a 3-0 lead. With two outs, Jacob Chappell singled in Bradley and Garrett McCain followed with a triple to put the Cowboys in front 5-0.
The Shockers cut into the lead in the top of the seventh. With one out, Gunnar Troutwine, Tanner Kirk and Michael Burns walked to load the bases. Mikel Mucha's fielder's choice brought home Troutwine and Daniel Kihle singled to left-center to score Kirk to cut the lead to 5-2.
The Cowboys got those runs back in the bottom of the seventh. Chappell led off with a walk followed by two bunt singles and an error to score the first run. The second run came home on a wild pitch to give OSU a 7-2 lead. The Cowboys tacked on another run in the eighth for the 8-2 score.
Sam Hilliard's RBI single in the top of the ninth made the final score 8-3.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., March 27 at No. 2 TCU at 6:30 p.m.
