Scouting UC Santa Barbara
The Gauchos are 11-4 on the season. Wins have come against BYU four times, Kentucky twice, Pepperdine, No. 12 Oregon, No. 25 USC and Sacramento State twice. Losses have come against Kentucky, No. 12 Oregon twice and Sacramento State. UCSB is hitting .275 as a team with a team ERA of 2.25. They also have a .976 fielding percentage. Leading the way offensively is Robby Nesovic who is hitting .453 with five doubles and 13 RBI. The Gauchos are led by head coach Andrew Checketts.

Series History vs. the Gauchos
Wichita State leads the overall series with UC Santa Barbara 7-3. WSU won a meeting in the NCAA Tournament in Palo Alto, Calif. in 1987, two games in Santa Barbara, Calif., in 1996, two games in Wichita in 1997, one game in Honolulu in 2001 and one game in Santa Barbara in 2014. UCSB won one game in Honolulu in 2001 and two games in Santa Barbara in 2013.

Last Meeting vs. UCSB
The last meeting between the two teams was a three-game series in Santa Barbara, Calif., March 14-16, 2013. UCSB won game one 2-1 and game three 3-2. The Shockers won game two 16-5. Dayne Parker went 7-for-12 in the series for the Shockers, while Tanner Kirk and Tyler Baker each went 4-for-10. Cale Elam earned the win, while A.J. Ladwig and Aaron LaBrie each took a loss.

Tinkham's On Base Streak Snapped
Junior catcher Ryan Tinkham had reached base in the first 13 games of the season before the streak was snapped on Tuesday against Central Arkansas. He leads the Shockers with five multiple-hit games and three multiple-RBI games.
 
Kihle With Impressive Weekend
Daniel Kihle hit .500 in three games last weekend for the Shockers. He went 5-for-10 with two runs, a double, a triple, one walk, two hit by pitch and two stolen bases. He had a .800 slugging percentage and a .615 on base percentage in the three games. In the opener against Central Michigan, he went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a triple. In game two, he went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and was hit by a pitch twice. In the finale, he went 2-for-3 with two RBI and the game-winning two-run double in the seventh inning.

Consistent Anderson
Junior pitcher Isaac Anderson pitched seven strong innings for the Shockers on Saturday against Central Michigan. He gave up one earned run on four hits with one walk and six strikeouts. The seven innings was a career-long for him and the six strikeouts were one off his career-high. He is now 2-2 on the season with a 2.62 ERA. He has pitched 24 innings with 20 strikeouts.
