WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State used a five-run sixth inning to defeat Arkansas-Little Rock 9-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

Bob Arens went 3-for-3 with two RBI and a double, while Jordan Farris went 3-for-5 with a RBI.

Reliever Taylor Goshen earned the win. He went 3.1 innings and allowed one run on three hits with two strikeouts.

The Trojans jumped on the board in the top of the first. Jason Prevatt singled and Ryan Scott doubled to lead off the inning and Tanner Rockwell walked to load the bases with no outs. With one out, Joseph Paulino's groundout scored Prevatt for a 1-0 UALR lead.

The Shockers tied it with a run in the second. Sam Hilliard led off with a single up the middle and advanced to second on a groundout from Daniel Kihle. Hilliard scored on a single up the middle from Jordan Farris to tie the score at one.

Prevatt led off the fifth with a double down the right field line and scored on a single from Scott to give the Trojans a 2-1 lead.

The Shockers took the lead in the fifth. Farris led off with a single and moved to second on a single from Bob Arens. Tanner Kirk's sacrifice bunt moved them to second and third and Farris scored on a fielder's choice from Mikel Mucha to tie the score at two. Chase Rader followed with a sacrifice fly to score Arens and give the Shockers a 3-2 lead.

WSU added to the lead in the sixth. With one out, Kihle walked and moved to third on a double from Farris. Arens followed with a two-run double to put the Shocks in front 5-2. Kirk doubled down the left field line to score Arens and Michael Burns singled to drive in Kirk for a 7-2 lead. Rader's second sacrifice fly of the game drove in Burns to put WSU in front 8-2.

Kihle drew a bases loaded walk in the eighth to drive in the final run.

The Shockers are next in action on Fri., March 13 when they host No. 14 UC Santa Barbara at 3 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
