Box Score WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State baseball team fell to Texas State 7-5 on Saturday afternoon at Eck Stadium.
Ryan Tinkham went 1-for-4 at the plate with a double and two RBI, while Daniel Kihle went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Jordan Farris went 3-for-5.
After the Bobcats plated one run in the top of the first inning, the Shockers answered with a run of their own in the home half of the first. Tanner Dearman led-off with a single up the middle and advanced to second on an error by the Texas State center fielder. After stealing third base, Dearman scored when Ryan Tinkham reached on another error by the Bobcats to tie the game at one.
Texas State scored three runs on two hits in the top of the fourth to take a 4-1 lead.
Wichita State answered again in its half of the inning. Tanner Kirk led off the bottom of the fourth with a double down the left field line and scored when the next batter, Michael Burns, singled. Burns was plated a couple of batters later on a RBI groundout from Dearman. Then, after Daniel Kihle singled to center and stole second, Tinkham doubled to left-center field to score Kihle and tie the game at four.
With the bases loaded, Texas State cleared the bases with a double to right field in the top of the seventh inning to take the lead, 7-4.
The Shockers cut the Bobcat lead to two in the eighth when Kihle hit into a fielder's choice to plate Burns, who had singled earlier in the inning.
The Shockers will host Nebraska-Omaha at Eck Stadium on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
