BSB: Shocks Sweep DH With 6-1 Win

WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State swept a doubleheader with Texas State with a 6-1 win in game two.

Starter Isaac Anderson pitched five shutout innings with seven strikeouts, while Willie Schwanke pitched four innings and allowed one unearned run with six strikeouts.

Tanner Dearman went 1-for-3 with three RBI, while Sam Hilliard went 2-for-2 with a RBI.

The Shockers got on the board in the bottom of the third. Michael Burns led off with a single to left field, stole second, moved to third on a fly ball from Mikel Mucha and scored on a sacrifice fly from Tanner Dearman for a 1-0 lead.

WSU added on another run in the bottom of the fourth. Chase Rader led off with a triple to right-center and scored on a sacrifice fly by Sam Hilliard to go up 2-0.

Tanner Kirk led off the fifth with a single to left field and Burns was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second. Mucha sacrificed both runners over and Dearman singled up the middle to drive in both runs for a 4-0 lead.

Sam Hilliard doubled down the left field line with one out in the sixth, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a fielder's choice from Tanner Kirk to increase the lead to 5-0.

Rader created another run in the eighth. He walked, stole second and third and scored on a throwing error by the catcher for a 6-0 lead.

The Bobcats broke up the shutout with an unearned run in the ninth.

The Shockers and Bobcats wrap up the series on Sat., Feb. 21 at 1 p.m.
