Lehman Named MVC Defensive Player of the WeekWichita State volleyball student-athlete
Abbie Lehman has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week of November 9-15.
Lehman, a sophomore middle blocker from Newton, Kan., led the Shockers to two road wins over the weekend. She averaged 1.62 blocks, 2.81 points and 1.88 kills per set, while hitting .333.
In the five-set win at Loyola, she had a match-high seven blocks along with 11 kills and hit .310. In the three-set win at Bradley, she had a match–high six blocks along with four kills and an assist and hit .400.
It is her third MVC Defensive Player of the Week honor of her career.
Shocks Clinch ByeWith two wins over the weekend, Wichita State clinched a first round bye in next week's Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. The Shockers have been a No. 1 or No. 2 seed now eight times in head coach
Chris Lamb's 16 seasons (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2013, 2015).
Comeback KidsWichita State earned its second thrilling comeback in the fifth set of a match this season on Friday at Loyola. The Shockers trailed 9-4 in the fifth set and used a 7-0 run behind the serving of
Dani Mostrom to take an 11-9 lead. The Ramblers tied it at 13, but the Shockers won the set 15-13. The other comeback came on Sept. 11 against No. 21 Kentucky. The Shockers also trailed 9-4 in the fifth set of that match and used a 6-1 run highlighted by two service aces from
Emily Hiebert to tie the score at 10. A
Jody Larson service ace gave the Shockers a 12-11 lead and WSU went on to win the set 15-12.
Final Home Matches for Two SeniorsWichita State's two seniors,
Katie Reilly and
MaryAshton Floyd, will be playing their final two home matches this weekend. In their four-year career, the Shockers are 95-34 overall and 55-15 in the Missouri Valley Conference. They have been a part of one MVC regular-season title, one MVC Tournament title, two NCAA Tournament appearances and one Sweet 16 appearance.
20 WinsWichita State won its 20th match of the season on Nov. 6 against Drake. It is the Shockers' 13th-straight season with 20 or more wins. Before head coach
Chris Lamb arrived at WSU, the Shockers collected just five 20-win seasons in school history (1976, 1977, 1988, 1991, 1992).
Raudsepp Stays Strong in MVC PlaySophomore outside hitter
Mikaela Raudsepp had a team-high 23 kills in two matches last week. She averaged 2.88 kills, 0.38 digs and 0.25 blocks per set, while hitting .237 on the left side. In 16 MVC matches this season, she is averaging 2.88 kills, 0.85 digs and 0.49 blocks per set, while hitting .277.
2-0 vs. UNIWichita State won both regular-season matchups with Northern Iowa in 2015. It is just the fifth time in school history that the Shockers have done that. WSU also went 2-0 against the Panthers in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2008.

Emily Hiebert had her streak of six-straight double-doubles snapped on Oct. 5 at Evansville. She leads the Shockers with 14 this season and now has 24 in her career, which ranks tied for 17th in the Shocker career record books.

Emily Hiebert continue to climb the Shocker career records list for digs and assists. Mostrom is now sixth in career digs with 1,440 and needs eight more to move into fifth place, while Hiebert is ninth in assists with 2,269.
