Fayad Named MVC Freshman of the WeekWichita State volleyball student-athlete
Shimen Fayad has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 4.
Fayad, a freshman outside hitter from Victoria, British Columbia, led the Shockers last week by averaging 5.00 kills and 1.25 digs per set.
Fayad had a career-high 20 kills, while hitting .261 on the left side in the four-set loss to Missouri State on Friday. She also added five digs in the match. Fayad had just three kills in the first set, but had four in the second, five in the third and eight in the fourth set.
She is the first Shocker freshman to have 20 or more kills in a match since Lindsey Eckenrode had 22 at UNI in 2006.
20 for the FreshmanFreshman outside hitter
Shimen Fayad collected a career-high 20 kills on Friday against Missouri State. She is the first freshman to have 20 or more kills in a match since Lindsey Eckenrode had 22 at Northern Iowa on Oct. 21, 2006.
Lehman DominatingSophomore middle blocker
Abbie Lehman has collected double-digit kills in 11 of her last 12 matches. In those 12 matches, she is averaging 2.98 kills and 1.26 blocks per set, while hitting .432.
