Scouting Northern Iowa
The Panthers are 9-9 overall and 3-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Wins this season have come against UC Davis, Creighton, Cincinnati, Butler, Alabama, Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois, Evansville and Bradley. Losses have come against Baylor, No. 12 Colorado State, No. 10 Kentucky, No. 8 USC, Illinois-Chicago, Iowa State, Western Kentucky, Indiana State and Illinois State. As a team, UNI is hitting .179, while opponents are hitting .204. They are led by Kayla Haneline who is averaging 3.15 kills and 1.15 blocks per set. The Panthers are led by head coach Bobbi Petersen.

Series History vs. the Panthers
UNI leads the overall series with the Shockers 51-13-1.  The Panthers also lead the series in Cedar Falls 23-7.  WSU head coach Chris Lamb is 12-24 overall against the Panthers and 7-11 in Cedar Falls. UNI has won 14 of the last 16 in the series.

The last meeting between the two teams was Nov. 28, 2014, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, in the semifinals of the MVC Tournament. The Panthers won 3-1 by scores of 21-25, 25-23, 25-23 and 25-18. The Bulldogs are 12-10 overall and 3-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Wins this season have come against DePaul, SIUE, Western Illinois, Akron, South Dakota State, Omaha, Jacksonville State, Gardner-Webb twice, Evansville, Loyola and Indiana State. Losses have come against UCF, North Dakota twice, Green Bay, South Dakota, Western Illinois, Coastal Carolina, Iowa, Southern Illinois and Illinois State. As a team, DU is hitting .178, while opponents are hitting .197. They are led by Makena Schoene who is averaging 3.16 kills per set. The Bulldogs are led by head coach Darrin McBroom.

Wichita State is ranked 16th nationally in average attendance. The Shockers are averaging 2,153 fans per match, while national leader Nebraska is averaging 8,137 fans per match.

Shocks in the RPI
Wichita State is 64th in the first official RPI release of the season. WSU is 2-4 against the top-50 and 3-6 against the top-100. Wins include Kentucky (18), Marquette (25) and Illinois State (77). UNI is 76th and Drake is 176.

Fayad Named MVC Freshman of the Week
Wichita State volleyball student-athlete Shimen Fayad has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 4.
Fayad, a freshman outside hitter from Victoria, British Columbia, led the Shockers last week by averaging 5.00 kills and 1.25 digs per set.
Fayad had a career-high 20 kills, while hitting .261 on the left side in the four-set loss to Missouri State on Friday. She also added five digs in the match. Fayad had just three kills in the first set, but had four in the second, five in the third and eight in the fourth set.
She is the first Shocker freshman to have 20 or more kills in a match since Lindsey Eckenrode had 22 at UNI in 2006.

20 for the Freshman
Freshman outside hitter Shimen Fayad collected a career-high 20 kills on Friday against Missouri State. She is the first freshman to have 20 or more kills in a match since Lindsey Eckenrode had 22 at Northern Iowa on Oct. 21, 2006.

Lehman Dominating
Sophomore middle blocker Abbie Lehman has collected double-digit kills in 11 of her last 12 matches. In those 12 matches, she is averaging 2.98 kills and 1.26 blocks per set, while hitting .432.

Blocking Improves
Wichita State's blocking has improved over the last nine matches. In those nine matches, the Shockers are averaging 2.53 blocks per set including a season-high 17 at Marquette on Sept. 18.

Hiebert's Double-Doubles
Sophomore setter Emily Hiebert had her streak of six-straight double-doubles snapped on Monday at Evansville. She leads the Shockers with 10 this season and now has 20 in her career, which ranks tied for 22nd in the Shocker career record books.  

Moving on Up
Two Shockers continue to move up the career records list. Sophomore setter Emily Hiebert is now 10th in the Shocker record books in career assists with 1,855. Junior libero Dani Mostrom is now eighth in the Shocker record books in career digs with 1,259.
