Lehman Named MVC Defensive Player of the WeekWichita State volleyball student-athlete
Abbie Lehman has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 21-27.
Lehman, a sophomore middle blocker from Newton, Kan., led the Shockers to a 2-0 record over the weekend to begin Valley play and helped WSU average 2.75 blocks per set as a team in the two wins. She averaged 1.62 blocks, 3.12 kills and 3.94 points per set, while hitting .442.
In the four-set win over Indiana State, she had a team-high 14 kills on 28 swings and hit .429. She also added a match-high seven blocks and one assist. In the four-set win over Illinois State, she had 11 kills on 24 swings and hit .458. She also had six blocks.
It is Lehman's second-straight MVC Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Hiebert's Double-DoublesSophomore setter
Emily Hiebert currently has a streak of five-straight double-doubles. She leads the Shockers with nine this season and now has 19 in her career, which ranks tied for 23rd in the Shocker career record books.
MVC StartWichita State earned four-set wins over Indiana State and Illinois State over the weekend to start 2-0 in Missouri Valley Conference play. With the two wins, WSU got off to the eighth 2-0 start in Valley play under Head Coach
Chris Lamb. The Shockers started 10-0 in 2004, 18-0 in 2005, 4-0 in 2006, 18-0 in 2008, 2-0 in 2009, 2-0 in 2011 and 5-0 in 2013.

Reilly Heating UpSenior right-side hitter
Katie Reilly continued her impressive play over the weekend to open Valley play. Over her last 13 matches, she is averaging 2.98 kills, 1.06 digs and 0.74 blocks per set, while hitting .377. She has had double-digit kills in eight of the 13 matches and has been named to two all-tournament teams during that stretch.
