WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State extended its winning streak to 25 consecutive over the Indiana State Sycamores with a 3-0 sweep on Saturday night at Charles Koch Arena. The Shockers won by scores of 25-19, 25-16 and 25-20, in front of a raucous crowd of 3,248.

The win moves Wichita State to 7-5 overall this season and 1-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference, while Indiana State dropped to 8-5 and 0-2.

Freshman Abbie Lehman led all WSU attackers with 10 kills on the night to go with an attack percentage of .273, while freshman Emily Hiebert tallied a team-high 34 assists. Hiebert also chipped in six kills. Sophomore Dani Mostrom led with 16 digs.

As a team, the Shocks combined for 45 kills, while hitting .257 for the match. The Sycamores finished with 29 kills and hit just .100. WSU finished with 41 assists as a team compared to just 28 for Indiana State.

Looking to regroup from being swept one night ago vs. Illinois State, the Shockers stormed out to a 9-4 lead in the opening set vs. Indiana State. From there, Wichita State would extend its lead to as many as eight, 20-12, before taking the set, 25-19. Mikaela Raudsepp and Kristin Byers each led WSU with four kills apiece, while Hiebert tallied 13 assists.

Wichita State used a 7-2 run in the second set to take an early 13-7 lead and would cruise from there. The Shockers dominated the set to take a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-16 win. Lehman led WSU with five kills in the set.

Indiana State scored the first two points of the third set, but an 8-2 WSU run kick-started the Shockers. Leading 24-15 and trying to clinch the match, Wichita State surrendered five straight points to the Sycamores before clinching the set, 25-20. MaryAshton Floyd came off the bench to lead with five kills in the final set.
