BSB: Shocks Fall to K-State, 3-2

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State scored two runs in the first and held on to defeat Wichita State 3-2 at Tointon Family Stadium.

Garrett Bayliff went 1-for-5 with a home run, while Micah Green went 1-for-3 with a double and RBI. Tyler Baker went 2-for-4.

Starter Drew Palmer took the loss. He went 2.2 innings and gave up three runs on five hits with two walks and one strikeout. Ray Ashford threw 3.1 shutout innings in relief.

Kansas State jumped on the board in the bottom of the first. Ross Kivett led off with a single through the left side and moved to second after Shane Conlon was hit by a pitch. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch and scored on a single to left field from RJ Santigate to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead.

Dayne Parker reached on an error to lead off the second and after Tyler Baker reached on a fielder's choice, Micah Green doubled down the left field line to score Baker and cut the lead to 2-1.

The Wildcats used two hits and two walks to add on another run in the third for a 3-1 lead.

WSU answered with a solo home run from Garrett Bayliff to lead off the fourth to cut the lead to 3-2.

The Shockers are next in action on Wed., April 9 at Oral Roberts at 6:30 p.m.
